Magnification

A screw-on front lens for the Advance ICD and the Science ETD-101, in 0.5x or 0.75x. It threads onto the M48 mount in front of the pair of objectives and widens the range of the microscope downwards.

Both of these are below 1x, so they lower the magnification and raise the working distance, the space between the head and whatever is in focus. Bresser suggests them for jobs where you need your hands or a tool under the lens, such as soldering or engraving, and the 0.5x gives the most room. A lens above 1x would do the opposite and bring the head closer; Bresser makes a 1.5x and a 2x in the same family, which we don't currently list.

The 0.75x is aluminium and the 0.5x has a plastic housing round the glass. Each comes singly. Our guide to using a microscope covers focusing a stereo head after you change the lens, and the other stereo parts are in microscope accessories.
