Levenhuk

Levenhuk is a European optics brand that makes microscopes, telescopes and binoculars for hobbyists, schools and families, and it's where our range starts. We stock four of its microscope lines. The Rainbow series (the Rainbow 2L, Rainbow 2L PLUS, Rainbow 50L and Rainbow 50L PLUS) are compound microscopes with upper and lower lighting and an experiment kit in the box. The LabZZ series (the LabZZ M101) is the children's line. The DTX series covers digital microscopes, from the DTX 30, which plugs into a laptop, to the DTX 350 LCD and DTX 500 LCD with a built-in screen. The ST series (the 2ST and 5ST) are stereo microscopes. Alongside them we carry Levenhuk's prepared slide sets, blank slides and cover slips, the K50 experiment kit, the M300 BASE camera, the A10 phone adapter and the LP10 lens pen.

Why we chose Levenhuk first

Three reasons. The lenses are glass on every model above the children's range, the Rainbow models run from a mains adapter as well as batteries, and every compound microscope ships with the K50 experiment kit (five prepared slides, five blanks, forceps, a brine shrimp hatchery and a guide), which means a beginner has something to look at on day one. Levenhuk also publishes a lifetime warranty on its microscopes, with accessories covered for two years. Claims for anything bought from us go through us; see our warranty page.

Levenhuk FAQs

Are Levenhuk microscopes any good?

For hobby, home education and school use, yes. They're not laboratory instruments and don't claim to be, but the Rainbow 50L PLUS's achromatic objectives and metal body compare well with anything at its price, and the DTX digital models are among the few with a proper stand and a real sensor.

Which Levenhuk microscope should I start with?

For a child under ten, the LabZZ M101. For a family or an adult beginner looking at slides, the Rainbow 2L. For coins, electronics and anything solid, the DTX 350 or the 2ST. Our types guide walks through the choice.
