The Rainbow 2L PLUS is the Rainbow 2L with better optics and a metal body. The objectives are achromatic glass, the eyepiece is 16x rather than 10x, and magnification runs from 64x to 640x. The 40x objective is spring-loaded, so it gives way rather than cracking a slide if you focus down too far, which helps while a child is learning.
Lighting is LED from above and below with adjustable brightness, so it shows prepared slides and pond water lit from beneath and a leaf or a coin lit from above. The head sits at 45 degrees and rotates through 360 degrees, so two people can take turns without moving the microscope. It runs from the mains adapter in the box or from three AA batteries, which aren't included.
Levenhuk's K50 experiment kit comes with it, with prepared specimens, blank slides, tools and an illustrated guide. Cover slips aren't in the box, and the G100 cover slips add a hundred. The Rainbow 50L above it reaches 800x with a Barlow lens and comes in a carry case. Available in Azure.
