Bresser

Bresser is a German optics company, and its microscopes run from the Junior range for children, through the Biolux and Erudit student models, to the Researcher range for adult hobbyists and students. You may also know the name from the National Geographic sets Bresser makes under licence, or from the Bresser models that have appeared in Lidl.

For children we stock the battery-powered Junior 40-640x and the Biolux SEL, which lights from above as well as below. For home education and school biology there's the Biolux NV with an HD camera, the binocular Erudit Basic and the Erudit DLX with a 100x oil objective, and for adults who want two eyepieces at 1000x, the Researcher Bino. The Erudit ICD and Researcher ICD are stereo microscopes for insects, rocks and coins in 3D, the LCD 50-2000x shows a slide on a built-in screen, and the DST-1028 is a USB microscope on a metal stand for circuit boards. Bresser slides, cover slips, immersion oil and an eyepiece camera fill out the range. Bresser microscopes carry a two-year warranty, and our Levenhuk range covers the same types if you'd like to compare.

Bresser FAQs

Are Bresser microscopes any good?

The Biolux, Erudit and Researcher models are solid entry-level and mid-range instruments and are widely used in schools. The Junior range is made for younger children and sits alongside Levenhuk's LabZZ models in our kids' collection.

Which Bresser microscope is best for a child?

For a first microscope, the Junior 40-640x is simple to use and runs on batteries. If you'd like your child to look at leaves and insects as well as slides, the Biolux SEL adds a light above the stage and a phone holder, for under £100.
