Euromex EcoBlue 40-1000x Microscope
Euromex EcoBlue 40-1000x Microscope
The EcoBlue is Euromex's mid-range teaching microscope, made for sixth-form and college biology labs and for hobbyists who have outgrown a 400x instrument. All three versions reach 1000x with oil immersion, the setting that bacteria and the detail inside blood cells need. The EC.1151 has one eyepiece, the EC.1152 has two, and the EC.1153 adds a third tube with a fixed 50:50 beam splitter, so a camera can show the class what the teacher sees.
Four achromatic objectives, 4x/0.10, 10x/0.25, S40x/0.65 and S100x/1.25 oil, sit on a reversed revolving nosepiece on ball bearings; reversed means it faces away from you and leaves the stage clear. The 40x and 100x are spring loaded. The eyepieces are WF 10x/18 mm in 23.2 mm tubes, with a pointer on the monocular. Binocular and trinocular heads have 30-degree tubes, eye spacing from 48 to 75 mm and a dioptre ring on the left, and every head turns through 360 degrees.
The 123 by 128 mm stage has an integrated mechanical stage with 70 by 27 mm of travel, and beneath it is a height-adjustable Abbe condenser, N.A. 1.25, with an iris diaphragm and filter holder, colour coded to match the objectives. Coaxial coarse and fine focus moves 12.5 µm per graduation over about 15 mm, and a rack stop protects the slide. The 1 W LED switches between white (6000 to 6500 K) and a halogen-coloured 3000 to 3200 K, and three rechargeable AA batteries, charged over USB-C, come with the multi-plug adapter. The monocular measures 355 by 170 by 220 mm, and the binocular weighs 2.95 kg.
Euromex also packs a white filter, dust cover, spare fuse, manual and 5 ml of immersion oil. The MicroBlue below it stops at 400x and uses no oil, and the BioBlue above it has semi plan objectives, a larger stage and finer focus. The other compound microscopes run from children's models to lab instruments, and microscope magnification explained covers why 1000x needs oil and an N.A. 1.25 condenser.
