Bresser Dry Darkfield Condenser
Bresser Dry Darkfield Condenser
A condenser that fits under the stage of a Bresser compound microscope for darkfield work. In ordinary brightfield, light comes straight up through the slide and a clear specimen looks pale on white. A darkfield condenser blocks the direct beam and sends light in from the side, so only light bounced off the specimen reaches the lens: the background goes almost black and pond organisms, diatoms and live cells show bright without a stain.
There are two fittings. The first is for the Erudit DLX, the Researcher, the Science TRM-301, the Bioscience trinocular and the Science ADL 601 P and F; Bresser gives its aperture as 0.85, the N.A. figure for the width of its light cone. The second is for the Science TFM-301 and Infinity. Both are dry, with no oil between condenser and slide, so they're for the dry objectives and not the 100x oil lens.
The Researcher version weighs 40 g. Our guide to using a microscope covers the condenser and diaphragm, and the other lab parts are in microscope accessories.
