Complete the kit

Ticked items are added to your basket with this instrument.

The Erudit ICD is a binocular stereo microscope, which shows solid things in 3D at 20x and 40x: insects, seeds, flowers, rocks and coins. There's nothing to prepare, so it suits children as well as adults, since you put the object on the stage and look. Bresser gives 53 mm as the maximum object height, enough for a beetle or a small fossil.

It has LED light from above and from below, with a brightness control, so a stone is lit from above and a leaf or a thin slice of mineral from underneath. It runs on three AA batteries, which aren't listed in the box. The eye spacing adjusts from 51 to 79 mm with dioptre correction, the stage takes a clear glass plate or a black and white plate for contrast, and magnification changes by turning the 2x and 4x objective.

It comes in a carry case with a smartphone holder for photos, rubber eyecups and two 10x eyepieces in 30.5 mm tubes. It doesn't show cells; for those you need a compound microscope. The Researcher ICD above it goes to 80x and runs from the mains or a rechargeable battery.
