The Researcher ICD is a binocular stereo microscope with two pairs of eyepieces, 10x and 20x, and a 2x and 4x objective, which gives 20x, 40x and 80x. The top setting is twice the 40x of our other stereo microscopes, which helps with the fine detail on an insect, a seed head or a grain of mineral. The working distance is 68 mm.

LED lights above and below the stage work separately or together and are dimmable, so it also shows thin, see-through samples lit from beneath. It runs from the mains adapter or from the rechargeable batteries in the box, so it can go out to the shed or the garden. The head turns all the way round, the eye spacing adjusts from 55 to 75 mm and each eyepiece has ±5 dioptre correction.

Rubber eyecups, a friction wrench, a pouch and a dust cover are included. It doesn't show cells, which need a compound microscope. The Erudit ICD below it stops at 40x and runs on AA batteries.
