The WiFi 2L is a digital microscope for a workbench, a zoom lens and camera on a stand with its own 17.8 cm (7-inch) screen, for circuit boards, solder joints, coins, stamps, minerals and insects. Bresser lists it for quality control, material samples and plant pests, and for school and amateur use. The subject sits under the lens and the picture appears on the movable screen.

The lens zooms from 2x to 44x on the screen, with a further 1x to 8x digital zoom, and focuses from 22 mm out to 195 mm with the stand's 100 mm extension fitted. At the low end the field of view reaches 34 by 70 mm, enough for a whole coin. A ring of six LEDs around the lens and two gooseneck spotlights, each dimmed from a touch bar, light a part evenly without shadows.

Video records at 1080p at 30 frames a second or 720p at 60, and photos at 4 MP (16 MP interpolated), to a microSD card of up to 64 GB (not included). A remote control and a mouse are included, so you can shoot without touching the stand. HDMI, USB (UVC) and WiFi send the picture to a monitor, a Windows 10 or 11 PC, a phone or a tablet, and the menu has measurement and calibration tools and picture-in-picture. It focuses to infinity, so it doubles as a webcam, and has a tripod thread.

It runs from the USB-C mains adapter or an 18650 lithium battery (not included). Two USB-C cables, an HDMI cable and the manual are in the box with the stand and its extension. It doesn't do slides or cells, which need a compound microscope. The DST-1028 below it is the simpler USB-only model for a Windows PC; our microscopes for electronics page lists both, and the digital microscope guide weighs a screen against a USB lead.

Is it right for you?
