Levenhuk N20 NG Prepared Slides Set

Twenty professionally prepared, stained and sealed slides, plus 24 blank slides and 40 cover slips for making your own. It's the set we'd add to any compound microscope, and the natural next step once the five slides in Levenhuk's K50 starter kit have been looked at a dozen times.

The twenty specimens cover the ground a school biology course does. From the plant and animal kingdoms there are a plant cell, an animal cell, mould, and mitosis in an onion root. From insects, a fruit fly at three stages (larva, chrysalis and adult). From animal tissue, striated and smooth muscle, bone, hyaline cartilage, loose connective tissue, a nerve in cross-section, nerve cells, a single-layer epithelium, a mammalian egg cell and sperm cells, and an egg in the early stages of division. And two blood smears, frog and human, which show the difference between nucleated and non-nucleated red cells at 400x.

The slides are standard 76 by 26 mm glass and fit any compound microscope with stage clips, including every one we sell. They don't suit a stereo or digital microscope, which light from above.

The blanks and cover slips are for pond water, onion skin, cheek cells and anything else thin enough for light to pass through. Keep the prepared slides in their box between uses; they'll last for years. Covered by Levenhuk's two-year accessory warranty.
