The Rainbow 50L is a compound microscope with a 2x Barlow lens, which doubles each setting and takes it from 40x to 800x in six steps (40x, 80x, 100x, 200x, 400x and 800x). The objectives are achromatic glass and the 40x is spring-loaded, so it retracts if it touches the slide. The 10x eyepiece sits on a head that turns through 360 degrees.

It has LED lighting above and below with adjustable brightness, runs from the mains adapter or two AA batteries (not included), and comes in a plastic carry case that holds the microscope and its accessories, which suits a club or a classroom. The body is plastic, so it's lighter to carry than the metal Rainbow 50L PLUS.

Levenhuk's K50 experiment kit is in the box with prepared specimens, blank slides, tools and a guide. The Rainbow 2L PLUS below it has a metal body for less money, and the Rainbow 50L PLUS above it adds a metal body and goes to 1280x. Available in Azure.
