Levenhuk 700 Series 40-2000x Microscope
Levenhuk 700 Series 40-2000x Microscope
The 700 series is a metal-bodied compound microscope with a larger stage than the 400 and 500, a 3 W LED and a 20x eyepiece on top of the usual 10x. It comes with three heads: the 700M monocular, the 720B binocular and the 740T trinocular, each set at 45 degrees and able to turn a full circle. Levenhuk suggests it for a home lab, a school or a clinic doing bacterioscopy, and rates it for experienced users. It's for transparent samples on a slide, lit from below.
Four achromatic objectives, 4x, 10x, 40x and 100x oil immersion, sit on the nosepiece. With the WF10x/18 mm eyepiece they give 40x to 1000x, and the WFH20x Huygens eyepiece doubles each setting to a top of 2000x. The 100x objective and the oil set how much detail you can resolve; the 20x eyepiece makes the same picture bigger without finding new structure. The 720B and 740T have 54 to 75 mm of eye spacing and 6 dioptres of correction each way, and the 740T's third tube takes any camera made for a 23.2 mm eyepiece tube.
The stage measures 140 by 130 mm, moves 75 mm and 24 mm on knobs with a coordinate scale, and holds the slide with two metal clips. Beneath it is an Abbe condenser of N.A. 1.25 with an iris diaphragm and centring screws. Focus is coaxial, 22 mm coarse and 0.002 mm fine, the LED has a brightness control, and power is mains only with no battery option. Blue, green and yellow filters are included.
Levenhuk's box for the 740T lists the stand, the head, all four objectives, both eyepieces, the filters, a bottle of immersion oil, a dust cover, the adapter, an Allen key and a spare fuse; the 700M and 720B pages list the oil too. The MED 10 above it adds anti-fungal coated optics and a 5 W LED, our best microscopes guide puts it in context, and the trinocular microscopes are listed together.
