Levenhuk 500 Series 40-1000x Microscope

The 500 series is a halogen-lit laboratory microscope, and Levenhuk points it at histology and other work with stained slides, where halogen shows the dyes truer. It comes as the 500M, a monocular to 400x; the 500B, a binocular to 1000x with oil; and the 500T, the same binocular with a third vertical tube for a camera. All three have a metal body, run from the mains only and take an analyser (not included) for polarised light.

Every version has achromatic 4x, 10x and 40x objectives, the 40x spring-loaded, and the 500B and 500T add a 100x oil objective with a bottle of oil in the box. The 500M carries one WF10x/18 mm eyepiece with a pointer on a 45-degree head; the B and T carry a pair on a 30-degree head with 48 to 75 mm eye spacing and 5 dioptres of correction. On the 500T a camera such as the M300 BASE goes in the top tube.

The 500M has a fixed 110 by 110 mm stage with clips and a condenser of N.A. 0.65 with an iris diaphragm and filter holder. The 500B and 500T have a mechanical double-layer stage of 115 by 125 mm with 70 by 30 mm of travel on knobs, over a height-adjustable Abbe condenser of N.A. 1.25. Fine focus reads to 0.002 mm; coarse travel is 30 mm on the M and B and 16 mm on the T. The bulb is 6 V 20 W on the 500M and 12 V 20 W on the others, with a brightness control, and blue, green and yellow filters fit the holder.
