Microscopes for schools and colleges

Microscopes that stand up to a classroom, a prep room and a home education table, chosen for metal bodies, glass lenses and parts a technician can replace. For Key Stage 3 and GCSE there's the monocular Levenhuk 400 series and the Euromex MicroBlue, which runs on rechargeable AA cells. For sixth form and college practicals there's the two-eyepiece Bresser Erudit Basic, the Erudit DLX, the Bresser Researcher with a 100x oil immersion objective and the Bresser Science TFM-201 with Koehler illumination. Primary classes get more from the Euromex EduBlue stereo microscope, which needs no slides.

Class sets, quotes and purchase orders

Email us the model and the number of units and we'll reply with a written quote. Schools, academies, colleges and home education groups can then send a purchase order, and we invoice the school rather than taking a card payment.

What a school microscope needs

A rack stop, so a pupil can't wind the 40x objective through a slide, and spring-loaded objectives that give way rather than crack. Once pupils are drawing cells at 400x, a mechanical stage (two knobs that move the slide a fraction of a millimetre) saves a lot of lost specimens. For phase contrast or a camera port, see the Laboratory & Professional section, where prices are shown ex VAT.

School microscope FAQs

Monocular or binocular for a class set?

Monocular for Key Stage 3, where lessons are short and the budget has to cover a whole room. Binocular from GCSE, when a pupil spends twenty minutes drawing one specimen.
